Intensive Driving Courses 'Fastrack'

Our Intensive Driving Courses work towards a predetermined completion date as you would do for any examination. These courses range from a one week course of 30 hours tuition over five days and taking the test on the sixth day, to spreading the tuition over 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Our Learn to Drive in Six Weeks course is particularly popular with students over the summer holidays.

If you have passed your theory test we can teach you to drive in five days, taking your test on the sixth day. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? But this is not without problems and we would not normally recommend such a highly intensive course. However, in certain circumstances it can be necessary i.e. when you can only learn to drive during your holiday period or you cannot start that new job until you have a driving licence.

Why wait to start your course until you have passed your theory test?

You can begin to learn to drive before you pass this test.

It takes up to 4 weeks to get a practical driving test date (sometimes longer) Why wait until 5 days before to start to learn to drive? You could use this time to complete your course and still take the test on the same day!

What problems are there in taking a one week course?
Our biggest concern by far is that this type of course works by cramming all of the skills needed into 30 hours tuition over five days and on the sixth day taking the test. The problem is that you pass by using short term memory only and many of the life skills are forgotten shortly after taking the test. This undoubtedly increases the risk to yourself and other road users. We would recommend  you to take part in the Pass Plus Scheme (click here for more information) immediately after taking your test.

Normally for clients who wish to take part in an intensive course we would recommend 6 to 8 weeks* from start to finish including taking your theory test and taking your practical test.

*times quoted subject to test availability; time taken to obtain a pass in the combined theory test, and your ability to to take tuition within the time period as recommended by your instructor.

We would recommend initially a minimum of 4 hours tuition per week taken in two blocks, this allows flexibility to increase or decrease the amount of tuition required as the test date becomes nearer. On average it takes approximately 30 hours.

You can learn in any number of weeks you wish, but between 6 and 8 weeks seems to achieve the best results in terms of becoming a safe and competent driver.

How much does it cost?

The one week intensive course costs £672 (Manual / Automatic)  plus test fees payable in advance. Including car hire for Practical Test.

Semi Intensive courses over four weeks in duration are payable at £43 (Manual/ Automatic) per two hour session, or in blocks in advance or as agreed at the time of booking. Overall this generally works out less expensive than a one week course.
